Notice Regarding Domestic Violence Orders in Dolphin House
The following applies to Protection Orders issued in Dolphin House where the Safety Order application was due to be heard on or after 30 September 2026 and that hearing did not proceed because there was no court sitting on the hearing date.
1. If:
1. you were granted a Protection Order; and
2. the Protection Order was served on the other party (the Respondent),
your Protection Order will remain in effect until the new hearing date. You will be notified of the new hearing date in due course.
An Garda Síochána will also be notified that your Protection Order remains in place until that date. [Dolphin House to confirm that An Garda Síochána are being notified]
2. If:
1. you were granted a Protection Order; and
2. the Protection Order was not served on the other party (the Respondent),
you will need to attend at Dolphin House to apply for a new Protection Order.
You can check whether your Protection Order was served on the Respondent by contacting your local Garda Station.
A Protection Order that has been served on the Respondent remains in effect until the Safety Order application has been heard. The Respondent may be prosecuted if the Protection Order is breached during this period.
