High Court Notice – Christmas Vacation 2025

Practitioners are hereby advised of the following arrangements during Christmas Vacation 2025.

 

  1. Urgent Sittings over Vacation - Court 6 Four Courts

    A High Court Judge will be available every day throughout the Vacation to hear urgent applications only. All sittings before the vacation Judge will take place Monday to Friday in Court 6 in the Four Courts at 11am unless otherwise advised by the High Court Duty Registrar.

    In the case of any such matter please email [email protected] or call the Four Courts at 01-8886000 to make arrangements with the High Court Duty Registrar.  Applications will NOT be listed before the Vacation Judge without certification from the High Court Duty Registrar that the matter is urgent. Please state in your email an explanation of the urgency.   

     

  2. Bail Sittings over Vacation – Cloverhill Courthouse

    Contact – [email protected]

     

    In addition to the foregoing, the High Court Bail List will sit in Cloverhill Courthouse on the following dates over the Vacation period.  Please note details for filing new applications. The list will start at 11am on each day except for Tues 06 Jan, when the list will start at 10am.

     

    • Monday 22December 2025: to deal with Applicants in Country Prisons (new and adjourned cases).  New applications to be filed by close of business Wednesday 17 December 2025

       

    • Tuesday 23 December 2025: to deal with Applicants in Dublin Prisons (new and adjourned cases).   New applications to be filed by close of business Thursday 18 December 2025

       

    • Monday 29 December 2025: to deal with Applicants in Country Prisons (new and adjourned cases).    New applications to be filed by close of business Friday 19 December 2025

       

    • Tuesday 30 December 2025:  to deal with Applicants in Dublin Prisons (new and adjourned cases). New applications to be filed by close of business Tuesday 22 December 2025

       

    • Tuesday 6 January 2026: to deal with Applicants in Dublin Prisons (new and adjourned cases).  New applications to be filed by 1pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025

       

      The High Court Bail List will sit as normal from Tuesday 6 January 2026 to Friday 9 January 2026 inclusive.  Country cases to be listed for Thursdays as usual.

       

      1. Extradition Sittings over Vacation – CCJ, Court Number 11

        In addition to the foregoing, the Extradition Vacation List will sit in the CCJ, Court 11 on the following dates over the Vacation period to deal with URGENT Extradition matters only. All sittings before the Extradition Duty Judge will take place in Court 11 in the CCJ at 10.30 am unless otherwise advised by the Extradition Duty Registrar

         

        • Wednesday 31 December 2025
        • Wednesday 7 January 2026

           

          These sittings are to facilitate URGENT applications only and matters that were adjourned specifically to this date on a previous occasion to facilitate, inter alia, statutory time limits.

          In the case of any matter that was not previously listed, please contact the Extradition mailbox to make arrangements with the Extradition Duty Registrar should a listing be required on the two dates above only.  Applications outside of the above two list days are subject to normal vacation procedure.

           

          Applications will not be listed before the vacation sitting of the Extradition list without certification from the Extradition Duty Registrar that the matter is sufficiently urgent. Please be prepared to put in writing via email an explanation of the urgency and specifically the reasons why the application must be immediately or promptly heard.   

          Please also note that where liberty has been granted during vacation (other than a Wednesday) to bring an application before the vacation sitting of the Extradition list, the matter is not properly listed until the Extradition Duty Registrar is aware of such application and all documents have been received.

           

          1. Central Office of the High Court

            In accordance with the Rules of the Superior Courts the Central Office will close at 1p. on Wednesday 24 December and will reopen on Friday 2 January 2026 at 10am.  The Central Office is open for business by appointment by using the online appointment system https://www.courts.ie/appointments. For urgent matters, where it is not possible to book online, please email [email protected] to make an appointment.

             

          2. List Room

            The List Room is closed from 4.30pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025 until Monday 5 January 2026.

             

          3. Legal Diary

            The Legal Diary will be published on the Courts Service website (www.courts.ie) on each day on which the Central Office is open during the Christmas Vacation (Monday 22, Tuesday 23 , Wednesday 24 December 2025, Friday 2 January 2026, and Monday 5 to Friday 9  January 2026).
